"Antiques"

Note: This is based on a true story, there is literally a little antique store down the street from my house and me and my little sister went inside it once.

It was Christmas Eve, Fedora had just arrived, there was still about two hours until the party and Harriette and Fedora were out on a walk. Heading away from town towards the farm houses in the country. When they were younger they used to walk this way and pretend they were lost. They would take a map, and try to find there way around.
Today they were just walking and talking. Harriette was in the middle of telling Fedora about DaeRi’s party and Fedora was frequently laughing and rolling her eyes. Suddenly Fedora stopped.
“Let’s go in there,” she said, pointing towards what at first glance looked like a barn but a sign above the door saying “antiques” told them it was an antique store. They had always passed this, but never really stopped to see what was inside.
“Why?” Harriette asked.
“Aren’t you curious?” Fedora said, heading down the pathway to the barn.
“A little,” Harriette admitted.
“Then come on,” Fedora said.
Harriette shrugged and followed Fedora down the path. Sfter trying the door they found that it was locked, so Fedora knocked and waited. That’s when Harriette noticed the door bell and rang it.
After a while a old man came out of the the house next to the barn. Fedora noticed him and waved with a big smile. The man, who had look a little hesitant at first, smiled back.
“Hello,” Fedora said when the man got to the door.
“Good morning,” The man said unlocking the door for them and leading the way inside, “we don’t get many customers much anymore. You guys are the first for a while.”
“Cool,” Fedora said, “That means we’re special.”
The shop inside was small and crowded. With tables full of mostly antique dolls. Some old doll magazines were piled by the door with a sign saying that they were free. On the wall were cross stitch samplers with a little sayings or pictures. So old furniture was, like a rocking chair a small table, were peppered through the store.
“This is great,” Fedora whispered.
“Yeah,” Harriette said, “These dolls are so cute. But expensive.”
“They are antique,” Fedora said.
Harriette looked at one of the small Madame Alexander dolls, it was wearing a cute green gown that reminded Harriette of something she wore the the Christmas Eve party a few years ago and the dolls had bright red curls, sort of like her if she had hair like her mom’s. It wa slike she fell in love and she just knew she had to have this doll. But it was one hundred dollars.
“Oh well,” Harriette said after looking around for a while. “Let’s go.”
“You go on, I’ll be right out,” Fedora said, looking at some of the samplers on the wall, “I want to get one of these cross stitch things.”
“Okay, don’t be too long,” Harriette said.
“I won’t,” Fedora said.
About ten minutes later they were back on the street and heading back home, with Fedora raving about the cute store saying they have to go back next time she’s in town. Harriette just laughed, Fedora was so strange.
